What is Thai Yoga?

Thai Yoga comes from the healing tradition of Ayurveda.

During the Buddha's lifetime, monks were sent to Thailand to set up temples or wats.  Here they practiced their healing arts, spreading both Buddhism and Thai Yoga throughout Thailand.  This bodywork practice, called nuad boran is the foundation of the Thai Yoga Bodywork I provide. An ancient and mystifying art form, Thai Yoga has the power to heal the body, clear the mind and uplift the spirit.  LEARN MORE…

What greater gift can one give than the gift of love? Bodywork is a perfect vehicle through which to express this love. It transcends all borders, touching not only the physical body but also the heart and mind. It expresses care and kindness in a way that is so direct that it can be absorbed immediately.

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Inquire for current availability & pricing.

Sona's offering of Thai Yoga Bodywork is a unique blend of therapeutic modalities. Combining elements of Thai Yoga, Yoga Therapeutics, Reiki and Qi Healing and Restorative Yoga, the goal of each session is to nurture the recipient towards their natural state of balance. Sessions are fully-clothed.

Do you feel physically stuck or stagnant? Are you seeking more emotional balance? Do you long to feel nurtured in spirit? A Thai Yoga Bodywork session provides 75 minutes of relaxation and healing. During your initial session,  I will focus on getting to know how your body and energy moves. Each session will vary—tailored to you that day. Sessions are broadly focused on creating space in the body, but I will use intentional, skilled touch to support your intention, then transition you to integrative rest so you can absorb the benefits of the bodywork you have received. At this time I will also transmit Qi through your body to clear any remaining blockages and to enhance the level of life force in the body. This will in turn support and help to integrate all the work we’ve done. You will feel open, yet grounded, and full of presence. Each session is approached with reverence, respect & intuitive awareness. I do recommend regular monthly or seasonal tune-up sessions so that you experience more balance and integration in your life.

PRENATAL   +   POSTNATAL SESSIONS

Thai Yoga Bodywork is a wonderful way to support your journey into motherhood.  Each session is tailored to your needs and most women are delighted to know that the session is performed fully clothed on a padded mat with supportive cushions.  With pregnancy typically comes a heightened awareness; each session will support you in staying balanced and holding true to you and your baby's needs.

PRENATAL SESSIONS:   Appropriate for 2nd and 3rd trimesters.  The blossoming mama's needs are paramount in this gentler practice that promotes relaxation, stress release, and groundedness.  Techniques are applied specific to the pregnant woman’s aches (i.e. sciatic, low/mid-back) while restoring a sense of rest and well being.  You will be propped on pillows and bolsters or laying on your side as I work the feet, legs, hips, back, shoulders and neck to support this time in your life.

POSTNATAL SESSIONS:   4-6 weeks postpartum.  Doctor’s OK.
This session is designed to support women in their transition physically, energetically, and emotionally—into motherhood.   Specifically helps to release knots in the upper back/shoulders from breastfeeding and holding baby, I also incorporate a long hip/back sequence to help gently and safely adjust the pelvis and spine from the physical stresses of pregnancy.  Light abdominal massage improves muscle tone, restore hormonal balance and create a sense of emotional well-being.
