In the spirit of metta — loving-kindness, benevolence, and well-wishing, I humbly share these kind words from my clients and students in hopes that it will provide you with a better understanding of what I offer.
Metta is a universal love, an all-embracing love. I like to think of metta as the simple act of well-wishing. Pick some phrases that resonate with you: may I be peaceful; may you be free from suffering; may all beings be safe and happy. I love the effect that switching to metta has. All judgment dissolves.
I practice metta by looking at a person and silently embracing them. When I do, I see that we share this life with its joys and its sorrows, and we share this planet with its beauty and its troubles. The best way to cultivate metta is to recognize that all beings, including those who we dislike or disagree with, want to feel whole.
