HOMECOMING: Embrace Your True Nature (VIRTUAL)

  • Source Yoga (VIRTUAL CLASS) 6720 Regents Boulevard University Place, WA, 98466 United States (map)

This time of year tends to invoke a deep sense of nostalgia, which takes its meaning from an ancient Greek word, nostos, referring to a homeward journey. It also contains the word algos, which means to ache.  So we can say that to feel nostalgic is to experience a longing for a time or place in which one knew a sense of warmth, contentment, or safety. This call to come home to ourselves is not a journey of isolation or loneliness, rather, a path of self-realization, illuminating the way back to that inner space of wholeness and integrity, back to the warmth of our own heart, back to a seat where we can integrate the experiences of the last year.

This workshop will draw from Vedic teachings that inform the traditional healing systems of Ayurveda and Yoga as inspiration for homecoming. The act of coming home is about embracing your true nature, essence, or spirit. In Ayurvedic terms, it is known as Prakruti.  According to Ayurvedic philosophy, all of creation is made up of five elements known as the Panchamahabhutas. Through meditation and breath, mudra and mantra, you'll embody the strengths and vulnerabilities of each element and map them within yourself. Developing a meaningful connection with each element will illuminate which energies play lead in your life. There will be space for self-reflection and discussion.

Nature has much to teach you about embracing your uniqueness. It all begins with the deep remembrance that your body and mind are nature, and not separate from it. Part theory, part practice, I invite you to join me on this journey home.
