Ayurveda: Savoring Summer
In a series of seasonal offerings, we will explore in community the ancient practice of Ayurveda—the holistic healing science for the body. The aims of Ayurveda and Yoga are the same—to offer us a path to self-discovery and optimal health.
Ayurveda, meaning "wisdom of life," is a way of living skillfully and in harmony with nature’s pulse—both the nature within us and around us. Often this is something we have to re-learn or remember, as it is easy to forget how connected we are to everything around us. Daily and monthly cycles and seasonal rhythms are the ultimate guide to navigating our wellness connecting to our body's innate wisdom.
The transition from Spring to Summer is marked by longer days, higher temperatures and the peak of nature's growth during the year. A season of play and creativity, with sun-filled days and lazy afternoons, Summer has its challenges too; the increase in activity and intensity invites us to find more pause, cooling and buoyancy.
Each series will cover foundations and practical applications of Ayurveda, woven into a simple but effective daily routine that will help to energize and nurture you during each seasonal transition. You’ll explore the importance of adjusting your daily practices to the season, key diet and lifestyle changes, appropriate herbs to use and recipes that can be used to bring about balance. As Sona guides you to reconnect with and embody your deep relationship with nature, she hopes you'll be inspired to create a meaningful life practice that will support a serene and smooth transition to welcome the season of the brilliant sun.
What to bring: Your questions and curiosities, a journal to take notes if you choose, water, yoga mat.
Recordings: Ayurveda is a living practice, and this series in particular is designed to be participated in week to week as we build upon the previous. It is also designed to be interactive within a small group so we can learn from, with, and support one another along this journey. In general there will not be recordings but if there is a session you know in advance you can’t attend, please let me know and I’ll be happy to send you a recording for that session.
